Our Vision

Gibsons Family Network (GFN) is a non-profit charitable organization with a vision of helping people with disabilities to find meaningful, integrated employment and support within our community.

GFN began as an association of families living in Gibsons, BC who have a family member or relative with a developmental disability. The group formed in 2004 and incorporated as a non-profit society in March 2006 in order to move forward to meet the need for more services on the Sunshine Coast.

The Sunshine Shack

Gibsons Community Centre
700 Park Road. Gibsons, B.C
Hours of Operation: Monday through Thursday from 10am-2pm

We provide healthy snacks and beverages and up to 10 young people are learning employment skills, food safety, and communication skills while our community is learning about the abilities of these employees.

Stop by and say "Hi," to our great staff and Jeannie our Kiosk Manager.

What GFN Can Do for You and Your Family

Networks ensure a safe and secure future for your relative by contributing to the quality of their life now.

They do this by supporting the individual to:
        ·         ensure a “safety net” through relationships
        ·         provide links to others in our community, province and country
        ·         advocate on behalf of themselves
        ·         provide a forum for network members to support each other
        ·         help provide security and a sense of relief for all family members
        ·         act as a resource for families
        ·         act as representatives and support decision making
        ·         spend time with friends
        ·         plan, dream, socialize and have fun together
        ·         provide books and videos on community inclusion and other topics of interest

If you would like more information about eligibility requirements please contact Pat Stuart at 604-886-2098.
